my street Photography

With this image i added the signs again  to make the first image look different by using the clone tool, the next photo i chosen to blur the background a focus one part of the image in where there are dancers in the background so that you would have your attention on looking on them more and to focus your eye on. My third street photography i have chosen to do is to make the background image black and white and keep the mascot its color to create an effect which would make this image different compared to the original I have done this by playing with colour pallete and added black and white and used lasso tool to go around the mascot shape and kept the colour to it's original. The last photo i have taken is off a man in Trafalgar Square who is about to put on act, I have changed the colors of his face and shoes to match with the ball to make it look more funky and stand out more, this image almost looks surreal by the way i have changed his face color. I feel that I am satisfied with my street photography work, as I have accomplished using Photoshop more and is more comfortable editing my photos than before.

Street Photography

Street photography is when you capture an image of a documentary photograph that features a subject within public places that tells a story on what is happening within the photo, you must capture the image at a perfect time to view others opinion on what is happening.

Deconstructing an advert.

Emporio Armani is a high end quality perfume and signifies to be trendy and world wide, they have chosen to use Beyonce to star in their perfume advert for endorsement. They have chose to this so that they can target audience capture their attention as the celebrity they have chosen is well known to most women.

The name of the perfume is called diamonds and for most women their is a saying as diamond is a girls best friend. Beyonce's outfit in this advert is all glitz and glamour, her body image is fierce/ sexy and takes up the spotlight of her being on stage by the effects of the lights at the background and her holding a microphone like she is performing.

The colour of this advert is black and white this  makes it look dramatic and stands out than having bright colours as if you have bright colours in this image the perfume bottle will not stand out as much and look like its crystallised in diamonds this also represents of the product as being quality.




By looking at this it makes you feel that if you purchase this product you will feel like a star on stage and glamourous.

The image angle of this photo is the rule of space as she is on the side looking at another direction and not straight at the camera and shows plenty of room on the side. I think they chose to this shot as there would be more  room for the target audience to notice her and have space for the perfume and brands title.

The slogan for this advert features "the new fragrance for women" for the target audience to read this will capture their attention as they would instantly think a band new perfume that Emporio Armani has launched.

The packaging is clear and represents the diamond that is shown for the perfume, the target audience for this would be age 16- 27 targeting teenagers and older women as they would take an interest on this product.

The fonts of the brand logo is the same, but the word diamonds is in bigger fonts and in capital letters, this is because they are trying to emphasise that word connecting with the photo and the perfume they are targeting.

Subject Terminology

Hard Light - Contains images of shadows.

Key light - Contains images of less shadows and is more clearer.

Colour connotation - is photography that uses media capable of representing colours symmetry.

Composition - placing or arranging visual elements and putting together an artwork.

Soft Light - tend to wrap around objects giving out a diffuse shadow.

Umbrella flash - You could zoom and have varies of way in which you can take a photograph.

Rule of thirds - It's a guideline of grids in which you can focus on taking photos.

Photoshop - When you can edit photos using tools on the left hand corner and edit photos to make them appear brighter or change the atmosphere and and transform.

DPI - They are the dots in photography.

Unconstrained - They are photos like stock images and vector.

JPEG - A format for compressing images.

Contrast - Difference in luminance of colour and difference with an image or display.

Depth of field - Is when an image is focused and there is a blur in the background of shadows.

White balance - A control system for adjusting.

Negative space - An entirely different atmosphere that bring out clarity in a photograph.

Abstract - Composition in which you can process dramatic images, and are visual.

Representational -Where you do not use photoshop to edit or touch up images.

Portrait - A portrait is an image of a persons face shot in a portrait angle.

Exposure - The amount of light that you get in photographs.

Histogram - Plots the amount of pixels for each tonal value.

Depth of Field

Depth of Field

Is when you focus on an image to get focus and then have a blurry background.

The measure of how much depth of an image will be in focus. Large depth of field will have much of the image sharp and in focus. Shallow or small depth of field will have one part in focus with the the rest blured a small part sharp in focus. Three things that change depth of field. The apature, the focal lenght of the lens used, and how near the focused or is to the camera subject. Apature is measured in numbers.

The two photos that i have taken are a large depth of field and the one below is the shallow depth of field.

Where do you find the levels on Photoshop?

Image, adjustments, click levels, and alter the graph by dragging the lines at the buttom to adjust the brightness and darkness to your choice.

What is a histogram?

A valuable tool that Photoshop gives us when editing an image for retouching or restoring photos. Histogram is a graph that shows us the current tonal range of our image tonal means the brightness of the image. Histogram works well with full colours since you will be dealing brightness value.

How do you crop the image?

On the left hand side box tool, click crop tool, and alter the image.

What is the difference between Original Ratio and Unconstrained?

Click unconstrained and should give you a number of option, choose a size, and can only crop a size on what you have selected. Unconstrained can be cropped to any size that you want, you would also need to set a ratio.

How do you turn an image into black and white?

Go to image, adjustments, desaturate and click. For the Grayscale go to image, mode and click.

What is resolution?

Resolution is the term used to describe the number of dots, or pixels, used to display an image. If you go to file, click resolution change the number to 300 for the size, this would make the quality good to print off, every image is made out of 1000 pixels. The more resolution the better the quality, this would also mean that the file size would be bigger. The resolution 72 would be acceptable for the internet so  that it would load quicker.

The colour black appears to be a tone colour if you mix black and white together it would appear to be grey which is why it claims to be a toned colour.

3 different manual photos from camera settings

tungsten settings, camera adds a cool tone to the image which makes the photo have that atmosphere to be a cold chilled weather.

This photo is on auto (AWB) camera sets white balance.

This third image is of flouorescent, the camera adds warm (red) tone.

Hard light

The soft light features less shadows and you can see more detail in the photo, and the hard light has more shadows by its reflecting.

Hard light: produces shadows of appearances depending on the lighting instrument. For example fresnel lights can be focused such as that their shadows can be cut with crisps shadows. The shadows produced will be harder on the edges with less transition. And the rays of parallelism quality of the shadows are more fresnel which makes the light more parallel.

Soft Light: tends to wrap around the objects producing diffuse shadows and gives out more light and gives images a clearer view and focus of structure and more detailed photo.

The History Of Photography 

        1826 - 2009

1826 - Frenchman Niepce produces first landscaped image permanent of a view from nature. Uses the photosentivity of bitumen of Judea, Which recquired eight hour exposure, the image was taken from Le Gras.

The Brownie Camera

1900 - The brownie camera
designed by Frank Brownell was introduced at a retail price of one dollar, It was a (Kodak) box roll film for Eastman.

Lumiere Brothers

1907 - In France, Auguste and Louis Lumiere (Brothers)  introduce the Autochrome, The first colour Photography system that can be used by amateurs and was marketed.




1930 - Reliable Photo Flash light bulbs became available to photographers by Johanne Ostermier, They had aluminium foil in place of magnesium. Similar bulbs were introduced 7 weeks earlier by General Electric.

Polaroid Instant Camera

1948 - The Hasselblad camera was introduced. In Sweeden they offered its first medium format SLR for commercial sale. Pentax in Japan introduce the automatic diaphragm, Edwin H. Land introduce the first Polaroid instant camera which the colours were black and white.

1975 - Nicholas Nixon takes his first annual photograph of his wife and her sisters which he claimed "The Brown Sisters". Steve Sasson at Kodak builds the first working colour image sensor based digital still camera, and Bryce Bayer of Kodak develops the filter mosaic pattern for (CCD) colour image sensor.

1990 - Adobe Photoshop was released, and Eastman Kodak  announced Photo CD as a digital image storage

SanDisk - 1994

1994 - SanDisk produced Compact Flash (CF) cards. The new head of Eastman Kodak, George Fisher announced the industry to sell non - photographic operations and to focus on photography in both its traditional chemical  based  and emerging electronic aspects

J- Phone

2000 - In Japan the first
commercially available camera 
integrated with mobile phone that can make and share still images of pictures was introduced by J.Phone (J.SH04)



2009 - Different variety of of cameras was released,  Kodak announced the Kodachrome film to a stop, Kodak loss a plan cut up to 4,500 jobs. Leica introduced the M9 which is the first 24x36mm range finder camera, Nikon release the D300s and D3s both with HD video, and Canon release the 7D also with HD

What does the word photography mean?

The word phtography means the word photo means"light, control"and the word graphy is for "writing".This 'writing with light' or as us photographers say ' painting with light' was first reputed to have been termed by Sir John Herschel to William Henry Fox Talbot in letter in 1839. In the 19th century photography is a method for lasting images when light hits a certain surface.

Photography is an activity involivng creating art and still or moving pictures. Photography is a combination of two different words which were latin.
